Ingomar gets division sweep of Walnut as girls survive tough test
The Ingomar Lady Falcons went into their Friday night game against Walnut not having lost a division game since the 2014 season. Despite losing key starter Lauren Thompson due to a car accident earlier in the week, they weren’t about to let that streak end at Walnut.
The Lady Falcons rallied to a 56-49 victory in a back and forth contest against the upstart Lady Wildcats of Walnut behind a game high 33 points from senior leader Gara Beth Self.
‘When asked about his team coming away with the victory, Ingomar coach was quick to give a key reason.
“Gara Beth was a warrior all game,” Coach Adair said.
The game was up in the air until late in the contest when Ingomar got a steal, bucket and free throw from Patience Golden to stretch the Ingomar lead to 52-46. The Lady Falcons were able to close the game out at the free throw line and secure the victory.
The win moved Ingomar to 25-3 on the season.
In boys action, the Falcons won the scoring battle in every quarter and pulled away late for a 67-39 victory.
The victory moved the Falcons to 23-4 on the season.
Ingomar is in action against Belmont in a home non conference game next.
