Myrtle kicks off first ever varsity football game against TCPS

The Myrtle Hawks kicked off their first varsity football season ever Thursday night against the Eagles of TCPS. Despite a good showing from the home team Hawks and good fan support on the sidelines TCPS took the game by a score of 40-14.

Myrtle’s first ever touchdown came on an AI Nugent 1 yard run midway through the 2nd quarter. Elijah Thompson, who also handles kicking duties, added a breakaway run early in the third to complete the scoring for the Hawks.

All told it was a solid effort from the Hawks against a seasoned unit from TCPS. The coaching staff can take the positives and build on them while working out the kinks that will come with real game action.
