West Union Eagles, Lady Eagles punch ticket to playoffs with win at district tournament

The West Union Eagles and Lady Eagles have punched their ticket to the state basketball playoffs after winning their games Monday night at the District 1-1A tournament, held this week at Myrtle.

The Lady Eagles picked up a hard fought win over Falkner by a score of 56-47. Annie Orman led with 35 points including 21 in the third quarter alone.

Allie Green contributed 7 points while Eden Conlee and Emma Callicut each scored 5.

They will face Ashland on Thursday at 4 pm.

In boys action, the Eagles won going away against Hickory Flat by a score of 76-44.

West Union trailed 6-0 to open the game but left no question to the outcome in running away with the victory, allowing the bench to clear and young players get some playing time.

The Eagles play Thursday night against the winner between HW Byers/Falkner.
