Midseason Update: West Union Eagles

At the halfway point of the season, many of Union County’s teams are gearing up for a run at the MHSAA State Basketball Championship. As for West Union, here is how the Eagles and Lady Eagles have fared so far.

Lady Eagles:

Record: 10-7 (3-0)

Notable Wins: 57-20 vs. Ingomar, 67-62 @ Hickory Flat, 65-47 @ Myrtle

Notable Losses: 59-26 @ Tupelo Christian HS, 55-54 @ East Union, 52-45 @ New Albany

Leading Scorer: Annie Orman

Notable Upcoming Games: January 14 @ Ashland, January 16-18 in the Union County Tournament, January 23 @ Hickory Flat

Playoff Aspirations: The Lady Eagles are currently flying high in the division, leading Hickory Flat for #1 seed after their big win back in December. As long as they stay the course, these girls can be expected to be competing right along TCPS and Pine Grove for the 1A State Championship.


Eagles:

Record: 10-6 (3-0)

Notable Wins: 77-55 @ Myrtle, 54-49 @ East Union

Notable Losses: 104-77 @ New Albany, 76-48 vs. Ingomar

Scoring Leader: Luke Willard

Notable Upcoming Games: January 16-18 in the Union County Tournament, January 28 @ Coldwater, January 30 @ Byers

Playoff Aspirations: Just like their counterparts, the Eagles are primed for the #1 seed in the division after a 3-0 start in 2019. However, two big matchups loom with Byers to see who will take the top spot into the division tournament.
