Lady Falcons advance to 3rd round of playoffs for 6th straight season with road win over Myrtle

The Ingomar Lady Falcons are in a familiar place, the third round of the MHSAA state playoffs.

The place is the same, but the faces are mostly new.

Ingomar defeated Myrtle 65-49 on Friday and it was their most experienced player and one of their 7th grade standouts leading the way.

Sanaa Finley and Macie Phifer scored 20 points each and dominated the post area to propel the Lady Falcons into the third round.

Ingomar jumped out early on the host Lady Hawks as they grabbed a 14-3 lead midway through the first quarter and would take a 16-5 lead after one behind 10 Katie Beth Hall points.

They would never trail.

Myrtle cut the lead to 7 in the fourth quarter on a driving Kinsley Gordon layup, but that is as close as the game would get.

Gordon would lead Myrtle with 24. Hall finished with 14 for Ingomar.

The Lady Falcons advance to the quarterfinals and will play at ICC Thursday at 5:30 against Baldywn.
