2A Baseball State Championship Preview: East Union vs. Taylorsville

The stage is set for the 2A edition of the 2021 MHSAA State Baseball Championships as the East Union Urchins face off against the Taylorsville Tartars.

East Union comes into the series by way of sweeping their entire postseason slate against Riverside, East Webster, Madison St. Joseph, and Pisgah. Meanwhile, Taylorsville defeated Loyd Star in a series that went three games as well to punch their ticket to Pearl.

In terms of overall records, Taylorsville sits at 26-9 on the season. As for East Union, they currently stand at 29-5.

The impact player to watch for the hometown Urchins is Carter Phillips, Hayden Roberts, and Rudy Baldwyn. The three pitchers will have high expectations for the series and will be the key to the Urchins taking home championship gold.

Game one of the series is set to begin Wednesday with first pitch at 1 p.m.

Game two will take place on Friday with a 1 p.m. first pitch time also.
