West Union rallies past Potts Camp to stay unbeaten in division

West Union erased a two-set deficit Thursday night at Potts Camp, winning the final three sets to claim a 3–2 volleyball victory and keep its division record perfect.

The Eagles improved to 3–0 in division play and 7–15 overall. Potts Camp fell to 11–5, losing a match it had led two sets to none. West Union’s school account confirmed the road victory and its unbeaten division mark.

For the Eagles, the result preserves a promising league start in a season that has been tougher outside the division. Thursday’s comeback also gives West Union a win over a Potts Camp team that entered the night with 11 victories.

The teams will not have to wait long for another meeting. West Union hosts Potts Camp on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. First comes a home division match against Hickory Flat on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, a score for Ingomar’s Thursday match at North Pontotoc was not available at press time. The Falcons’ next scheduled match is Tuesday at Smithville, with a 6 p.m. start.

A result for the previously scheduled Thursday matchup between Myrtle and East Union also was unavailable. Both schools have matches listed for Monday, Sept. 14: Myrtle hosts Water Valley at 6 p.m., while East Union travels to Pine Grove for a 6:30 p.m. start. Myrtle is then scheduled to visit East Union on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

New Albany turns its attention to a full Saturday of volleyball. The Bulldogs, 19–7, open against Pine Grove at 8 a.m. on Sept. 12, followed by Olive Branch at 10 a.m., Lake Cormorant at 11 a.m. and Walnut at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs split their last two matches Tuesday, beating Caledonia 2–0 before falling to East Union by the same margin. Saturday offers four opportunities to add to their win total before returning to district play against South Pontotoc on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
