New Albany gets 3-1 victory over Ripley to advance to North Half Championship
New Albany’s soccer season continues after a 3-1 victory over Ripley in the second round of the MHSAA playoffs on Saturday.
The victory puts the Bulldogs in the North Half championship against West Lauderdale on Tuesday, February 5th.
The Bulldogs got on the board first with a Max Spencer goal in the 38th minute off of an assist from John Davis.
After the break, the Futbol Dawgs got a goal in the corner of the net from Dani Avila in the 60th minute.
Ripley cut the lead to 1 with a free kick goal from ICC signee Ruben Perez in the 68th minute. New Albany stayed on the offensive and answered back with a Ken Olson header less than a minute afterwards to secure the 3-1 victory.
Tuesday’s contest for North Half will be at Meridian Community College at 6:30.
