Myrtle comes from behind in 3 games at UC tournament before falling to EU in final
The Myrtle Lady Hawks are no stranger to come from behind victories.
Before the Union County tournament started, they got a last inning come from behind victory over North Pontotoc by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.
That never say die mentality served them well in the Union County tourney.
The Lady Hawks got 3 come from behind wins, 5-3 over Ingomar, 3-2 over New Albany and 4-3 over West Union, the last two in their final at bat.
In the final against East Union Myrtle fell 2-1 in a game called on the cusp of the time limit.
Myrtle’s Caylie Streich only allowed 7 earned runs on the day against stiff competition. The Lady Hawks got big hits and stellar base running from dynamo Kinsley Gordon, who is a threat to stretch every single into a double. Clutch hitting from Breanna Smith, Ally Smith and Keragen McCullough sparked the Lady Hawks while the defense behind Streich, including Sarah Kate Thompson, made enough plays to ensure victory.
