Myrtle advances in softball playoffs with sweep of Wheeler

The Myrtle Lady Hawks found themselves in familiar territory on Tuesday, needing a run late to secure a victory in a tied ballgame.

Per usual, they found a way.

Myrtle scratched an Emma Mayer run across in the 6th inning and held Wheeler scoreless for a 1-0 win and a series sweep that locked their spot in the second round of the state playoffs.

The Lady Hawks won the first game of the series 9-0 on Monday at Wheeler.

There is now a bit of a wait for their next opponent as the Biggersville/Smithville series won’t start until Friday and Myrtle will take on the winner of that.
