West Union gets split on Saturday to set up winner take all north half contest Monday
The West Union Eagles couldn’t get anything going offensively in their game one contest against Smithville, mustering just a pair of hits. They knew to extend their season, they would need a turnaround performance in game two.
Enter senior standout Cole Phillips.
The NEMCC signee tossed a 4 hit shutout in game two, striking out seven in the 5-0 victory.
The Eagles got big hits from Luke and Ryder Willard plus Dylan Gates and a great sliding effort to score by Chance Bogue in the 3rd inning to go up 4-0.
