Lott’s passing prowess, big defensive plays lead to win over Booneville
New Albany was on the road against a team whose starter had never lost a football game. That starter for Booneville, John Daniel Deaton, had just connected with Davian Price for a 69 yard touchdown. It was Price’s 5th touchdown of the night and the Bulldogs were down 41-35 with 4:15 to play.
The home stands were erupting. In the back and forth contest of momentum swings, the Blue Devils had all of it. The Dawgs were reeling.
But Charlie Lott, as they say, was as cool as the other side of the pillow.
Lott hit a streaking Cameron Knox for a 54 yard touchdown, his 4th of the night, on New Albany’s next possession just 30 seconds after the Blue Devils touchdown. Caleb McDonald tacked on the extra point and New Albany had a 42-41 lead.
The Blue Devils, with over 3 minutes to play, looked to make a drive of their own to steal back the game.
Isaiah Cohran would have none of it. He picked off Deaton to seal the 42-41 victory.
The win moved New Albany to 3-1 on the season. They take on Mooreville next Friday night.
