New Albany clinches 2 seed, home playoff game with win over rival Ripley
New Albany went in to the final regular season game knowing it needed a win to clinch a home playoff game in 2019.
The fact that the opportunity to do so came against their oldest and most heated rival made the game even more intense.
The Bulldogs rose to the challenge on Friday, pulling away in the second half for a 48-21 victory.
CJ Hill rushed for over 150 yards and three touchdowns, Charlie Lott threw for 218 yards and three scores and the Bulldog defense held Ripley to just 7 second half point en route to the victory.
The first half saw a combination of Lott’s passing prowess and power running from Hill, who had 71 first half rushing yards.
Lott hit touchdown passes to Cameron Knox, Mason Simmons and Ramaryon Crawford, who also had an interception on the night.
New Albany will host Shannon next Friday night. More pictures on Facebook (Union County Sports) and Instagram (sportsmississippi).
